🔹 Purpose :
Schedule 2 is used to report certain extra taxes that aren’t directly listed on Form 1040.
🔹 Part I – Additional Taxes :
Covers taxes such as:
• Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT)
• Excess advance premium tax credit repayment (ACA Marketplace)
🔹 Part II – Other Taxes :
Includes:
• Self-employment tax (from Sch. SE)
• Household employment taxes (from Sch. H)
• Additional tax on IRAs & retirement accounts
• Social Security & Medicare tax on unreported tips/wages
• Net investment income tax (NIIT)
• Additional Medicare tax
🔹 Flow to Form 1040 :
• Total from Schedule 2 is carried to Form 1040, Line 17 (Other Taxes).
